Israel has resisted all international and US efforts to sign the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty or to open its nuclear facilities to international inspection. US law provides for the termination of all aid, economic and military, to any nation that develops nuclear weapons or "engages in a consistent pattern of gross violations of internationally recognized human rights." For years, the US government has been aware of Israel's development of a nuclear arsenal and its persistent human rights violations.
